Serbia "committed to best possible ties with everyone"

BELGRADE -- Tomislav Nikolić told Romanian PM Victor Ponta on Thursday that Serbia is "committed to building cooperation and best possible relations with everyone."

In relation to his talks on Monday with President Traian Basescu on cuts in social security contributions (CAS), Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Tuesday said that what generated an understanding problem there was not the term MTO mentioned by Basescu, but the English accent of the President, adding that he knows precisely what Romania's obligations are.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta said in an interview with Evenimentul zilei daily that, although he doesn't have any government reshuffle planned for the next period, there could be some unplanned changes in the government.

Asked about a possible reshuffle, Ponta said: 'No, there is no one in particular that I have in mind. There could be such unplanned changes, though.'

Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Monday evening told B1 TV private television broadcaster that he would announce the name of the Premier he would back as candidate to president, after the first round of the presidential elections.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Monday said that he does not want the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), minor at rule, to pull out of the Government, and that he talked with UDMR national leader Kelemen Hunor and Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean to find a solution.

The Conservatives will support Victor Ponta in case he officially announces his candidacy in the presidential elections, Conservative Party (PC) Chairman Daniel Constantin said in Orastie on Tuesday.

PNL (National Liberal Party) leader, Klaus Iohannis, believes that the name of Prime Minister Ponta appearing in the case of the chief of the Mehedinti County Council, Adrian Duicu, who was accused of influence peddling, represents 'a very serious situation' and pointed out that the relevant institutions should immediately try to clarify this aspect.

Deputy Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Dan Sova believes Prime Minister Victor Ponta will run in this November's presidential election, and he also believes Ponta to be the best person to lead Romania for the next ten years.
