Part of the Third Line of the Sofia Subway to be Put into Exploitation in the Summer

Part of the newly constructed third subway line will be released in late July or early August. This was announced by Mayor Yordanka Fandakova after an inspection at the Hadzhi Dimitar metro station.

It was decided for all 8 metro stations from Vladimir Vazov Boulevard to Zhitnitsa Street to be put into exploitation.

The most polluted air is in the neighborhoods: Hadzhi Dimitar, Orlandovtsi, Hristo Smirnenski, Poduyane and Levski.

CEZ's Fault Leaves Half of Sofia in the Dark for 6 Hours

A massive technical fault of energy utility CEZ left downtown Sofia in the dark from 4 to 10 pm yesterday, reported Standart News. 

The company's operators were bombarded with thousands of phone calls from citizens in the affected quarters of Orlandovtsi, Yavorov and Hadzhi Dimitar and were constantly delaying the provisional time of power supply restoration.

Polish Diplomats Recite Classic Bulgarian Poetry to Honor Liberation

Polish diplomats in Bulgaria have honored the country's National holiday, the liberation from Ottoman rule, in an unusual gesture.

In a video posted on YouTube, they can be seen and heard - most in Bulgaria and some in Polish - reciting Hadzhi Dimitar, a poem by legendary Bulgarian revolutionary Hristo Botev.
