Harmanli Migrant Center Incident: Syrian Man Hospitalized After Altercation

In a recent incident at the migrant center in Harmanli, Bulgaria, a 20-year-old Syrian man was left injured following a physical altercation among residents, as reported by BTA and the Regional Press Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Haskovo. The altercation took place on January 12, leading to the detention of two Syrian suspects residing in Harmanli.

Bulgaria: 25 Migrants were Detained near Simeonovgrad

Employees of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Dimitrovgrad found a bus that was transporting 25 illegal migrants from Afghanistan. A pre-trial proceeding has been initiated in the case, the press center of the prosecutor's office announced. The driver of the truck D.G. (34 years old) was initially detained for up to 24 hours and is yet to be charged.

Mariya Gabriel Will Participate in the Digital Knowledge and Skills Day in Haskovo

Mariya Gabriel, Bulgarian Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, will visit Haskovo on November 11 to participate in the Digital Knowledge and Skills Day under the motto "Programming and Creating Together". This was announced by the Press and Media Department of the EC Delegation to Bulgaria.

The event will start at 11:00 am in the Zarya Community Center.

GERB Named its Mayoral Candidates for Plovdiv, Rousse and Haskovo

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's party GERB on August 15 named its candidates for mayors of Plovdiv, Rousse, and Haskovo in the forthcoming local government elections in October 2019, reports BNT

The incumbent mayors in the three cities are from the GERB party, but they are not among the newly named candidates.

Border Police Detained 13 illegal Migrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan

Bulgaria's Border police identified 13 men without identity documents in a van driven by a 32-year-old man from Haskovo. Ten of the foreigners said they were from Afghanistan and three from Pakistan. The driver and the illegal migrants were detained, Ministry of Interior press office said on 28th of November, reports BNT.
