The European Union's new fiscal rules should ensure both fiscal discipline and economic growth, while considering countries with high defense spending, noted Greek National Economy and Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis on Thursday.
New bill aims to protect borrowers
A new draft law by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance includes eight measures to protect vulnerable borrowers, increase transparency in how borrowers are informed by servicers, and enhance competition within the banking system.
The bill was unveiled for public consultation from Wednesday up to November 22.

Stricter rules for self-employed
The government announced on Tuesday that as of this year self-employed professionals will be presumed to earn a minimum of 10,920 euros, which under certain conditions will reach €50,000, and will be taxed accordingly through the declarations to be submitted in 2024.
