‘Green levy’ on diesel consumption from January
Motorists that use diesel will pay 0.04 euros more per liter for their car fuel from the start of 2021 due to the imposition of an environmental tax of €0.03/liter plus value-added tax that Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis has announced.
The measure has been included in the amendment to the zoning bill for the support of renewable energy sources tabled on Thursday.

Reforestation plan aiming for 30 million new trees

Minister announces two new bike lanes for Athens

Greece aims to eradicate singe-use plastic by July 2021
Volunteers mobilized by the A.C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation pick up trash on the beach of Schinias, a protected wetland northeast of Athens, on Saturday. The foundation has launched a campaign to eradicate single-use plastic in cooperation with the Environment Ministry.
Online discussion on East Med and Covid-19
The American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and the Atlantic Council will hold a digital event on Tuesday on the "East Med and the trilateral partnership (Greece-Israel-Cyprus) and its role in regional energy security and economic cooperation in the age of Covid-19 and beyond."

Environment minister visits Mati, eyes regeneration plan
A plan for the reconstruction of the fire-ravaged east Attica community of Mati will be posted for public consultation in June, Environment Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said during a visit to the coastal town on Friday.
Ministry wants building height limit of 21 meters around Acropolis
The height limit of buildings constructed in the vicinity of the Acropolis in central Athens should be reduced to no more than 21 meters, according to a recommendation submitted by the Environment Minister Kostis Hatzidakis to the Central Council of Urban Affairs and Disputes (KESYPOTHA), which convened on Thursday.
