Fifteen-day heat wave longest recorded
The 15-day heat wave that ended on Wednesday evening, July 26, was the longest one recorded in the country, the National Observatory of Athens' weather service Meteo.gr has said.
The heat wave comprised three phases: from July 12 to 15, from July 18 to 23 and from July 23 to 26.

More than 32 Greek regions experienced temperatures exceeding 40 degrees
Temperatures receded slightly on Monday but areas in Greece remained in the midst of a heatwave with high temperatures in several regions of the country. According to automated weather stations operated by the National Observatory of Athens and meteo.gr, 32 of these stations recorded temperatures exceeding 40 degrees.
Temperature Record in Australia
Australia has had its hottest day on record. The national average temperature was 40.9 ° C.
The previous record, of 40.3C, was set on January 7, 2013.
Forecasters predict that the peak of the heatwave is yet to come later in the week. And that means the record can be improved again.
High temperatures aggravate the situation with the out-of-control fires.
