Face masks made in Turkey stir political debate in Greece
Face masks that were produced in Turkey and distributed to Greek lawmakers have stirred a political debate in Greece.
The Greek Parliament convened on Jan. 29 for a second day to discuss a censure motion brought forward by the main opposition party Syriza against the government over its handling of the recent snowstorm which crippled the capital Athens.
Tangible Pay Cuts for MPs To Be Discussed in Parliament
The ad hoc committee that drafts the Rules of Procedure of the new parliament will discuss a tangible pay cuts for MPs. Some of the proposals provide for the resumption of blitz control of the executive in the plenary. Reducing the monthly salaries of MPs from three salaries to one average gross salary in budget sector, or BGN 1570, is the proposal of "Rise up BG! We're Coming."

The MPs on February 24 decided not to hold regular plenary sessions from March 8 to 24. The reason is the election campaign of parties and coalitions for the parliamentary elections, which will be held on April 4.
1,020 Covid-19 tests conducted in Parliament come back negative
Lawmakers and staff working at the Greek Parliament who were sampled for the coronavirus have tested negative, according to reports on Monday.
More specifically, tests took place in Parliament on May 19, 20 and 21, conducted by a team from the National Public Health Organization (EODY).
More charges proposed for Papangelopoulos
A proposal was submitted to Parliament on Monday by some 30 MPs of the ruling New Democracy party asking for the expansion of the indictments against former alternate justice minister Dimitris Papangelopoulos, who is accused of politically motivated interference in the investigation into the Novartis bribery case.

Novartis case: Expansion of indictment against minister sought
A proposal by 30 government lawmakers will reportedly be submitted to the Greek Parliament Monday asking for the convening of a plenary session to discuss the expansion of the indictments against former alternate justice minister Dimitris Papangelopoulos, who is accused of politically motivated interference in the investigation into the Novartis bribery case.
MPs to debate, vote on only one bill per week, committee says
The Greek Parliament's Conference of Presidents on Wednesday decided that only one bill shall be put to vote each week, as part of the measures put in placeby the House to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Priority will be given to the introduction of bills relating to the management of emergency situations, while debates will be held once a week, every Thursday.
New president to be sworn in Thursday in pared down ceremony
Greece's president-elect, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, is to be sworn in on Thursday in a simplified ceremony in Parliament, with few officials present, to avoid the spread of the new coronavirus.
