As the March 3 national holiday weekend comes to a close, travelers are advised to brace themselves for heavy traffic on major roads and highways across the country.

Amid the anticipated surge in holiday travel, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) announced specific traffic alterations for the Hemus Highway on December 29 and 30, aiming to streamline movement and accommodate repair works.

There is a chance that the construction of the "Hemus" highway will continue this fall and that another 80 km will be ready by 2025.

This was said on Monday morning on Nova TV by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Andrey Tsekov.

The Bulgarian airline GullivAir has stopped selling tickets for the Sofia-Skopje flight since May 21, the specialized aircraft portal Ex Yu Aviation announced.

According to Macedonian media, the flights are carried out with 7-8 passengers, and there were cases when there were only two or three people on board, less than the crew.

The Council of Ministers decided to provide 81,157,840 leva in financial resources to the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRDPW) to pay for this year's construction activities along the unfinished Hemus Motorway which will link the Bulgarian capital Sofia with the seaside city of Varna, the Government Information Service reported on Tuesday.

"Even in the face of a pandemic, we are building. Bulgaria is a beautiful country, but it's hard to implement construction projects here," stated Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who inspected the construction of the Hemus Motorway from a helicopter.

Due to fog, the visibility on the Hemus Motorway is limited to about 30 m in the area of the Vitinya tunnel.

The Traffic Police reminds that the reduced visibility requires driving at a lower speed, keeping a sufficient distance and avoiding sharp maneuvers.
