Greek politicians pay their respects to Stephanopoulos

Greek politicians on Monday paid their respects to Constantinos Stephanopoulos, a veteran conservative politician who served two terms as president of Greece from 1995-2005, after his death on Sunday aged 90.

A statement from the Henry Dunant Hospital said Stephanopoulos was admitted Thursday and died at 11:18 p.m. (2118 GMT) from "complications of pneumonia."

Conservative politician Costis Stephanopoulos, who served as Greek President between 1995 and 2005, has died. He was 90.

Stephanopoulos had been admitted to Henry Dunant hospital in Athens on Tuesday with a diagnosis of acute respiratory infection.

Doctors said he died at 11.18 p.m. on Sunday as a result of damage to multiple organ systems.

Hygeia takes over management of Henri Dunant hospital

The Hygeia group has agreed to take over the running of the Henri Dunant hospital in Athens, which ran into serious financial problems.

Hygeia issued a statement thanking the hospital and Piraeus Bank, its main creditor, for handing it the institution’s management.

The Henri Dunant hospital has 37 clinics and four intensive care units and is run as a non-profit organization.
