Police seized over 10 kilograms of heroin in northwestern Turkey

Turkey seized over 10.15 kilograms (about 22 pounds) of heroin in the northwestern province of Bolu, a police source said on Jan. 21.

Anti-narcotics police, assisted by a sniffer dog, searched a suspicious car on a motorway in Bolu, recovering heroin from the trunk of the vehicle, said the source who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Police seize over 90 kg of heroin in eastern Turkey

Police seized over 90 kilograms of heroin in eastern Turkey on Dec. 23, according to security sources.
The anti-drug police in the province of Van confiscated the illicit drug when they stopped a passenger bus in Tuşba district, the local police said in a statement.
During the search of bus, assisted by a sniffer dog, police found the drugs hidden in the trunk.

Drugs found in Halkida prison raid

As part of an ongoing crackdown on drug use and crime within Greek prisons, authorities raided some 10 jail cells at a penitentiary in Halkida in central Greece early on Friday morning.
According to the Citizens' Protection Ministry, the 3.5-hour operation yielded nine grams of cannabis, 3.5 grams of heroin, as well as eight mobile phones and two routers.

Seven inmates charged after prison sweep turns up drugs, weapons

A sweep of the Aghios Stefanos prison near Patra, western Greece, has turned up quantities of drugs as well as 11 makeshift knives and five cellphones, which are forbidden in penitentiaries.

The inspection began late on Tuesday night and was completed in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The action was held on September 20. The leader of the group, who is a Bulgarian citizen, has been detained. Searches, seizures and questioning of witnesses were carried out.

Six arrested, 42 kg of heroin seized in northern Greece

Police seized 42 kilograms of heroin and arrested six people in an operation conducted in the town of Komotini, northeastern Greece, on Friday.

The drugs were packaged in 81 parcels.

The suspects - foreign nationals aged between 29 and 53 - are reportedly members of two criminal gangs distributing large quantities of drugs from Turkey into Greece.
