Slovenia to spotlight 65 writers at Frankfurt Book Fair

Slovenia will feature 65 writers as it appears for the first time as the guest of honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair from 18 to 22 October this year. The country hopes that, as a result of its diverse presentation at the fair, interest in its literature, and culture in general, will increase and more books will be translated into foreign languages.

Germany averts 50-hour train strike

Germany has averted a crippling 50-hour train strike as transport union EVG on Saturday called off the industrial action after reaching a wage deal with rail operator Deutsche Bahn.

Delays and disruptions are however still expected in the next days across the rail network, Deutsche Bahn said, as it needed to work through the mass changes that had arisen because of the planned strike.

21st International Turkish Film Festival to begin June 20

The 21st International Turkish Film Festival in Frankfurt, Germany will kick off on June 20.

Submission of productions including short and long movies and documentaries will take place between Jan. 15 and Feb. 15. They will then be forwarded to Turkish and German juries on March 1 and March 15, respectively, for review.

One Bulgarian citizen is among the victims of an incident in Limburg, Germany, in which a truck crashed into 8 cars. This was reported by the press centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to information from the German police, the Bulgarian citizen suffered minor injuries, received medical assistance, and was subsequently released from medical observation.

Frankfurt Airport Terminal Evacuated as 'Unauthorised Person' Bypasses Security

The Express - Frankfurt airport, Germany has evacuated passengers at Terminal 1 and closed several gates as police are delayed in the hub.

According to the German newspaper Bild, a police spokesman said an unauthorised person had got past the security area and disappeared.

He was reported to have a child with him an is now unauthorised inside Terminal One.
