Coast guard retrieves man's body from Evia coast

The badly decomposed remains of a man were recovered on Sunday from the eastern coast of the island of Evia.

The coast guard retrieved the body from a steep, rocky shore after being alerted to its presence.

The remains have been transferred to the department of forensic medicine and toxicology at the University of Athens, where an autopsy will be conducted.

The body of the 41-year-old woman was found in a further search of wooded areas in the Pomorie area on Saturday morning.

The woman disappeared in early July.

The carcass, at an advanced stage of decomposition, was found in the Krotiria area. The woman hanged herself.
