Kosovo dialogue to resume "after holidays"

BRUSSELS -- EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has said that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina would resume after the upcoming holidays.

The EU will never recognise Crimea's annexation by Russia, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said Monday after the first meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council.

According to AFP, the problem of Crimea was discussed at the meeting.

Secretary of state for European Affairs with the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), George Ciamba on Monday told the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) reunion in Brussels that it is necessary a consistent support for Turkey and Lebanon in particular in managing the Syrian refugees' situation.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said Dec. 15 she was "surprised" after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan lashed out at Brussels for criticizing mass detentions targeting media.
      

BRUSSELS - The high-level political dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina will resume as soon as the New Year and Christmas holiday season ends, the European Union High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said in Brussels on Monday.

Greek general Michail Kostarakos was named on Monday as the next Chairman of the EU Military Committee.

Kostarakos, currently Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, will assume his duties on November 6 next year.

The EU backed UN efforts to arrange a ceasefire in Syria's second city Aleppo on Monday as one of the few good options left in a conflict which has claimed more than 200,000 lives.
      

"Serbia ready to open negotiating chapters"

BELGRADE -- Serbia's chief negotiator with the EU Tanja Miscevic has said that Serbia is ready for the opening of negotiating chapters with the EU, including chapter 35.

The EU's foreign policy chief did not raise any criticism or proposals for the alignment of Turkey's foreign policy with the EU, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said, in reply to remarks by Federica Mogherini.
