EU appoints new ambassador to Turkey
Senior German diplomat Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut was nominated as head of EU delegation to Turkey, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced on June 16 in a statement.
Meyer-Landrut has been Germany's ambassador to France and Monaco since 2015.
He will replace Christian Berger, who continues his career as EU ambassador to Egypt.

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias is heading to Croatia on Thursday to attend the informal meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers, also known as Gymnich, in the context of Croatia's Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

He hopes the EU will not need to deploy military troops in order to stop a possible new wave of Syrian refugees.
The situation in Syria and at the Turkish-Greek border is the major topic of a meeting of European defense ministers, with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg taking part alongside Borrell.
