Higher education in the United States

Though admission to higher education is a life goal for tens of thousands of young people and their families, the road proves challenging for many. Some students prolong their studies, while others abandon them altogether.

The project “Internationalisation of educational services of higher education institutions” of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sport is launched. It will be supported with a budget of 62 million euros.

Since I work at a private, not-for-profit university in the USA, one would expect me to be in favor of such institutions for Greece. While I do believe that not-for-profit private higher education is indeed fine, I am not sure if this model will work in Greece.

In a move to retain local talent and foster equal access to higher education, the Bulgarian government has proposed the abolition of tuition fees for students and doctoral candidates in public higher education institutions.

To ensure the normalization of education in the quake zone before the new school semester, academic staff from prestigious universities will give lectures in quake-hit provinces, Türkiye's Higher Education Board (YÖK) member Prof. Dr. Ömer Açıkgöz announced.

American universities have shown a strong interest in cooperating with their Greek counterparts, Education Minister Niki Kerameus discovered during a visit to the US this week, with the first exploratory visit of US university officials to Greece expected at the end of March. 

Besides the team from the Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FON) of the University of Belgrade, students from 20 prestigious universities and business schools from all over the world are taking part.

A Bulgarian student has been admitted to 18 top US universities, with 8 of them are Ivy League institutions - among the most prestigious schools in the world.
