Athens, 185 years later
Is Athens a successful city? Given everything such a simplistic definition entails, I would say that, yes, it is. I also believe that most Athenians would vote it as their top favorite if they were asked to, despite all its ills.

PM remembers student Axarlian, killed by N17 terror group in 1992
In a message on Twitter, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis paid tribute to the student Thanos Axarlian who was the accidental victim of an attack by the now defunct terrorist group November 17 in 1992.
Axarlian died on Karageorgi Servias Street after being hit by a rocket that had been aimed at the then Finance Minister Yiannis Palaiocrassas.
ND's Dora Bakoyannis drops charges against teens over offensive graffiti
Three 15-year-old boys were reportedly released from custody in Crete on Friday after being remanded over several deeply offensive messages directed at New Democracy lawmaker Dora Bakoyannis that were scrawled in the elevator of her office building in the town of Hania earlier this week.
Koufodinas defeated at the polls
Roughly a month ago, just after a bunch of self-styled anarchists ran amok on Voukourestiou Street in downtown Athens, a "leading" yet nameless member of the anti-establishment Rouvikonas (Greek for Rubicon) group heralded the siege of downtown Athens by supporters of November 17 hitman Dimitris Koufodinas.

Parliament attacked with paint, smoke bombs
A small group of around 15 hooded individuals slipped past guards and splashed paint near the front entrance to Greece's Parliament building on Tuesday.
The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. and the assailants were able to climb up the stairs beside the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and up to the front courtyard of Parliament, which is normally out of bounds for the public.

Judicial council rejects N17 terrorist's appeal for furlough
A Greek judicial council on Friday rejected an appeal for another furlough by convicted November 17 terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas who is in hospital after launching a protest hunger strike.
Former foreign minister says N17 hitman is Rouvikonas's 'guide'
Former conservative foreign minister Dora Bakoyannis said on Monday that anarchist group Rouvikonas is guided by the shooter of the now defunct November 17 terror group, following the group's vandalism of the US embassy in Athens.
Early Monday morning, Rouvikonas members splashed paint at the side entrance of the US embassy in Athens.

Pictures of Dimitris Koufontinas, a convicted member of Greece's most deadly guerrilla group, November 17, walking in the center of Athens during his six-day leave from prison under a parole board ruling have generated controversy.

Son of N17 victim adds voice to condemnation of hitman's furlough
The decision to grant a fifth furlough to Dimitris Koufodinas, the hitman of the now defunct November 17 terror group, was roundly condemned on Friday.
The regional governor of central Greece, Costas Bakoyannis, whose father was assassinated by the group in 1989, decried the decision.

Turkey berated Greek authorities on Friday over a decision by a prison council to grant a fifth furlough to a convicted terrorist who has killed Turkish citizens, saying it is disrespectful to the memory of the victims.
