Critics got a sneak preview of an anime prequel to "The Lord of the Rings" at one of the world's top animation festivals in France.

"The War of the Rohirrim" film, due for release in April 2024, is set 250 years before the events of the main trilogy of books by J.R.R. Tolkien.

It is being directed by Kenji Kamiyama, who worked on the landmark manga film "Akira" in 1988.

Streaming giant Amazon has defended the racially diverse casting of its big budget series "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," which some fans say distorts the world of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Amazon announced on Sept. 3 that its big budget series "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, had marked the biggest premiere in the history of Prime Video with 25 million viewers.

Amazon's "The Lord of the Rings" series has forged a name for itself.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" was announced Wednesday as the full title of the drama set to debut Sept. 2, with episodes to be released weekly on the streaming service.

A municipality in eastern Turkey has started to build a village inspired by the Hobbit houses in "The Lord Of The Rings" series created by J.R.R. Tolkien.

As in the series, houses in Pa?abahçe Picnic Area in the Sivas province have been constructed into hillsides, Do?an News Agency reported July 11.
