Staff shortages dent Hong Kong air hub reboot hopes

Regional airlines are struggling to ramp up flights to Hong Kong because of staff shortages at the airport, slowing the city's plan to recapture its travel hub status, industry insiders have said.

Hong Kong, which calls itself Asia's World City, once had one of the globe's busiest, and best-connected, airports.

Istanbul Airport claims no. 2 spot in world's best international airports

Istanbul Airport placed number two on a ranking of the world's best international airports, a survey by U.S. Travel and Leisure magazine found.

At less than three years old, Istanbul Airport made it to the upper ranks of the globe's top 10 airports in the World's Best Awards 2021 survey, said a statement by the Istanbul Airport Administration (IGA) on Sept. 9.

Tirana International Airport SHPK, owned by Hong Kong-based China Everbright Limited, claimed that responsibility for responding to such major security breaches lay with the Albanian police.

A bomb threat forced a HK airlines heading from Beijing to Hong Kong to make an emergency landing in Wuhan, China. Posts on WeChat and Weibo mention that passengers have been evacuated from the flight. Police and firefighters have surrounded the aircraft and a search is underway.
