Coffee Island to create coffee residue processing unit
Coffee Island and Coffe-Eco are creating the first industrial unit in Southern Europe to process and reuse espresso coffee residue for creating new products in Patra.
Constantinos Constantinopoulos, Coffee Island's CEO, said the company will invest 400,000 euros in the startup Coffe-Eco to promote cycle economy projects.
İzmir Coffee festival starts tomorrow
İzmir's historical Gas Factory in Alsancak will host the İzmir Coffee Festival, which will take place on May 27, 28 and 29. There will also be concerts by popular musicians, workshops and coffee talks during the event, where 90 brands will offer their coffees to the participants.

Italy woos UNESCO with ’magical’ espresso coffee rite
A shot of dark, velvety coffee is more than just a quick caffeine hit: Italy's espresso is a prized social and cultural ritual the country considers a national heritage worthy of UNESCO status.
Italians knock back some 30 million espressos a day, from Venice to Sicily, in porcelain cups or little glasses, with or without a splash of milk and see each one as a gesture of friendship.

Coffee is sold 4-6% more on the shelves of supermarket chains, while in restaurants there have been increases ranging from 5% to 20%. However, individual professionals, especially in the region, have raised prices by up to 33%.

Turkish coffee still ‘most consumed coffee’ in country
The young Turkish generation has expanded the diversity of coffee consumption in Turkey, preferring to drink filter coffees or espressos, but Turkish coffee is still the most consumed coffee, daily Milliyet has reported.
