Sinner beats Rune at Turin ATP Finals, sends Djokovic to semis
TURIN - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the world number one in men's tennis, is through to the semi-finals of the ATP Finals in Turin after Italian Jannik Sinner defeated Dane Holger Rune 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in a Green group third round match on Thursday evening.
Previously, title holder Djokovic beat Pole Hubert Hurkacz 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 6-1.
Epic drama in Turin - Sinner took Djokovic to the semi-finals!
With that, Sinner confirmed his own placement in the semi-finals, but also took Novak Djokovic there, who, due to the lost set earlier in the day against Hubert Hurkacz, was "depending" on the outcome of this match.
Rune, whose coach is Djokovic's former strategist Boris Becker, put up a fantastic resistance and staged a real drama in the "City of Fiat".

TURIN - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the world number one in men's tennis, defeated Pole Hubert Hurkacz 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 6-1 in an ATP Finals Green group third round match in Turin on Thursday but now needs a Jannik Sinner victory over Dane Holger Rune to qualify for the semi-finals.

Hurkacz entered as a substitute for Stefanos Tsitsipas and will play against Novak Djokovic on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
The day before, Hurkacz was training in the "Pala Alpitour" hall, when a little boy asked him for a racket.
"If I beat Novak, I'll give you a racket," Hurkacz said.
