Jail Sentences Increased in Croatian Wartime Detention Camp Trial
Croatia's High Criminal Court on Monday increased the sentence handed down to Lora military prison commander Tomislav Duic from eight-and-a-half to ten years in prison for war crimes against civilian detainees at the Lora military prison.
The court also increased the sentence handed down to guard Emilio Bungur from four-and-a-half to eight years in prison.
Thousands Protest 'Slave Law' in Budapest
Protesters threw smoke grenades at police who responded with tear gas in Budapest on Sunday as thousands of people rallied against a new "slave law" passed by the government of conservative Prime Minister Viktor Orban, reports AFP.

Bahrain summons Iraqi ambassador to protest VP remarks on executions
Bahrain's Foreign Ministry summoned Iraq's ambassador in Manama to protest against remarks by Iraqi officials denouncing the execution of men convicted of a 2014 bomb attack, state news agency BNA said on Jan. 16, Reuters reported.
The execution on Jan. 15 of three men, whose attack killed three policemen, has drawn condemnation from rights groups. Iran called it a "reckless" act.
