Bulgaria: Police Action against Trafficking Network that Transported Migrants from Turkey to Western Europe

The Bulgarian police took down a human trafficking network from Turkey through Bulgaria to Western Europe.

Five people were detained on the territory of Haskovo. The organizer of the trafficking ring, a Syrian, and four Bulgarian citizens, complicit in the criminal activity, were detained.

According to BNT, the Syrian has humanitarian status in Germany.

"The victims of trafficking are not given compensation, they should receive compensation for the damage done to them," Petya Nestorova, Executive Secretary of the Council of Europe's Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, told BIRN.

Bulgarian Male Arrested in Greece for Human Trafficking

A 21-year old Bulgarian man has been arrested in Northern Greece on charges of human trafficking, reported Ekathimerini online edition.

Twenty seven illegal migrants were discovered in the truck driven by the Bulgarian. All of them are Syrian.

The vehicle has been confiscated and the Bulgarian man is expected to be indicted by a prosecutor.
