Eleven years after Orban returned to power and made family policy a cornerstone of his vision for the future, the answer is that it's complicated.

One historic event that reflects how much, and perhaps also how little, the world has changed in the last century, is the peace treaty signed in the Grand Trianon Palace in Versailles on June 4, 1920.

On Monday, Hungary opened officially its military base in Hercegszántó, not far from the border with Serbia. The aim of the base is to stop illegal migration, announced Hungary's Defence Minister István Simicskó.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said Turkey is being "unfairly criticized" by the European Union. 

"It is necessary to get along with Turkey. We hand over our security to the Turks and criticize, attack and condemn them in unnecessary topics. This is not a smart policy," Orban told the public radio Kossuth on March 17. 

Hungary must defend its independence and its national sovereignty again. We will stop Brussels and mass settlement, said Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban during the celebrations commemorating the national holiday and the anniversary of the Hungarian civil revolution in 1848-49.

"Hungary to get one million new citizens"

BUDAPEST -- By the end of the mandate of the current government, one million more people will be given Hungarian citizenship, Zsolt Semjen has said.

Semjen serves as deputy prime minister in charge of Hungary's national policy.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Thursday congratulated Romania's President-elect Klaus Iohannis on his win, and thanked the ethnic Hungarians in Romania for "their courage to participate in such a battle, thus increasing the quality of Romanian politics," news agency MTI informs.
