Personnel and military equipment from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey will pass through the Bulgarian republican road network, the Ministry of Defense reports.

The European Commission has given approval for the construction of nearly 33 km of the new "Europa" highway in the section connecting the Kalotina checkpoint on the border with Serbia and the ring road of Sofia. The investment of over 183 million euros from the EU Cohesion Fund will contributed to the better integration of the Bulgarian road system into the European transport network.

The Council of Ministers has defined the border points on Bulgarian territory through which unobstructed passage of commodities will be ensured. The plan for securing "green corridors" along the European road network has been proposed by the Minister for Transport, Information Technology and Communications. It complies with the guidelines of the European Commission of 16 March 2020.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov turned the first sod of the construction of "Europe" motorway on 23rd of May. The old Sofia-Kalotina road will be modernized and will connect Sofia with the Serbian city of Nis. Lot 2 of the Dragoman-Slivnitsa motorway should be ready by the end of 2020, Prime Minister Borissov said, reports BNT. 

Bulgarian law enforcement authorities have detained 12 illegal immigrants crammed in a Mercedes SUV, the Interior Ministry said in a press release on Monday, reports Xinhua. 

There is heavy truck traffic on Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, at exit from the country, according to Border Police data as of 6.00 am. On the borders with Serbia, Macedonia, Greece and Romania, there is normal traffic on all checkpoints.

Sofia. There is heavy traffic at Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint at the Bulgarian-Turkish border, said the press office of the Border Police at 6:00 am this morning. At the borders with Serbia, Macedonia, Greece and Romania, traffic is normal through all checkpoints.

Sofia. There is considerable traffic of trucks to Turkey on the checkpoint at Kapitan Andreevo, according to Border Police data as of 8.00 am. On the borders with Macedonia, Serbia, Greece and Romania, there is normal traffic on all checkpoints.

The traffic at the Bulgarian-Turkish border is intense. A 5 km queue of trucks has formed at the exit of "Kapitan Andreevo" border checkpoint, reported Traffic Police.

At "Lesovo" checkpoint there is a 1 km queue, at the exit from Bulgaria as well.

At all the border checkpoints with Serbia, The Republic of Macedonia, Greece and Romania the traffic is regular.

Problems with the border system on the Turkish side have stopped the movement of trucks leaving Bulgaria through the Kapitan Andreevo-Kapikule border crossing, the Road Infrastructure Agency says.

All trucks weighing more than 12 tons will now be redirected through to the border point at Lesovo.
