Plovdiv Police Launches Raid on Funeral Agencies

A large-scale police operation is underway in Plovdiv, NOVA has learned from its sources. Police raided the offices of the city's funeral agencies to carry out checks.

The reason - alerts about frauds with prices for funerals, especially of those who died of coronavirus. These mourning ceremonies were by many times more expensive, victims say.

The crematorium is also targeted.

Knife, cellphones seized at Amfissa Prison

A search on Monday afternoon in a cell and a communal area of the Amfissa Detention Centre, in central Greece, turned up a makeshift knife with a 8.3-centimetre blade, as well as cellphones and bootleg alcohol.

Prison guards six cellphones and seven chargers, 11 hands-free and six little of illicit alcohol.

The prison informed police and a prosecutor about the finds.

Pyromaniac arrested over arson attacks and killing of two dogs

Police in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, said on Wednesday that they had arrested a compulsive arsonist.

The 31-year-old man, who was reportedly arrested on Tuesday, is accused of setting some 15 parked cars on fire in Nea Efkarpia from last April up until a few days ago, and of burning two dogs alive in the same area.
