Wartime story named Slovenian novel of the year
Lado Kralj, a literary and theatre critic who died in December, has been posthumously awarded the Kresnik Prize for Slovenian novel of the year for a story taking place in Ljubljana between the Italian occupation in the early 1940s and the post-war period in the 1950s.

MENT brings fresh batch of Europe’s music talent
The MENT music festival, which focuses on new progressive discoveries in the region and beyond and is accompanied by an extensive networking and music industry conference, gets under way in Ljubljana on 29 March. Both segments of the three day-event will put the Baltic region in the foreground.

Computer Museum opening doors in Ljubljana
Ljubljana – Slovenia will get a Computer Museum on Saturday, located in Ljubljana’s Šiška district and opening its doors with an exhibition highlighting computer software, among other things. The museum will feature one of the largest collections from the world of computers in this part of Europe.

Ljubljana City Library hosting Austrian Culture Week
Ljubljana – The Ljubljana City Library will host this week a series of lectures and other events presenting the rich cultural and natural heritage of Austria and its impact and integration into the common European space as part of the Austrian Culture Week.
Kino Šiška urban culture centre celebrating 10th anniversary
In the last decade, Kino Šiška has evolved into a key cultural institution and venue for contemporary music concerts, while its programme also includes visual and performing arts events.
The centre hosts the international contemporary dance festival CoFestival, the Ment festival of contemporary alternative music, and high school music band competition Špil Liga.

This time the festival organiser, Zavod Druga Godba, has joined forces with three co-producers: Cankarjev Dom and Kino Šiška in Ljubljana and, for the first time in the festival's long history, Narodni Dom in Maribor. Six organisations from the partner cities of Birmingham, Dublin, Helsinki, Lodz, London and Lyon will also be taking part.

With innovative projects such as Sports meets business, trade and investment conferences in the UK, British month in Mercator Šiška, Brexit Ambition initiative, Beer Bulli digital project, Tea with Reason business breakfasts and the prestigious Christmas gala in London, they managed to increase the visibility of the Chamber and doubled the number of members in the last two years.
"Druga godba" festival divided between Piran and Ljubljana
The decision to move the first festival evening to Piran came about among other things because of the support of the local community, Rok Košir, a member of the programme board, has told the press.
