Islamist extremism in Serbia is decreasing but far-right extremism is on the rise, according to research by the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy, BCBP, and the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia, presented on Friday.

Liberal democracies, on both sides of the Atlantic, were tested over the last years by a wave of populism that attempted to sweep away everything in its path.

A string of violent incidents show the far-right in Greece did not die when leaders of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn were convicted in October 2020.

The Social Democrats are joining "We Continue the Change" to run together in the November 14 parliamentary elections.

Talks to join the coalition are also being held with other parties, which would recognize the main political goals and priorities of "We Continue to Change" and are ready to abide by the principles set out in the agreement, they said.

This is an important opportunity to redress the current situation, but many of the new emerging leaders are far-right demagogues who blame today's problems on social-welfare policies, migrants and the poor, while aiming to remove all remaining constraints on capital.
