More than 40 drown in seas, lakes, dams in Turkey during Eid

Some 43 people, including five foreigners, drowned in seas, lakes and dams in 22 provinces amid the long Eid al-Adha holiday.

According to data obtained by the state-run Anadolu Agency, 16 of those who died were children.

Istanbul and the Black Sea province of Amasya are two provinces with the highest cases, with five deaths each.

Huge anti-narcotics, anti-terror police operation launched in Istanbul

A large-scale operation with the participation of 2,000 police officers from anti-narcotics and anti-terror teams was launched in Istanbul on the morning of March 23. 

Checkpoints were established in parts of the city for the operation, called "Kurtkapanı-2," which means Wolf Creek in Turkish. 

Huge fire burns Kocaeli poultry farm, killing 21,000 chickens

A fire that broke out in the roof of a poultry farm during repair work has killed 21,000 chickens in the Kandıra district of Turkey's northwestern province of Kocaeli, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Fire broke out on Sept. 30 after a welder's spark touched isolation materials during construction and repair work in the roof of the poultry farm belonging to Nihat Ayvazoğlu.
