Bulgaria: Police caught 10 Syrians on Trakia Highway - Two Women were Detained

Ten illegal migrants from Syria were caught on "Trakia" highway - near the village of Tsaratsovo, Plovdiv region, announced the prosecutor's office.

Detained and charged are two women, both aged 29. They are charged with helping refugees cross the country illegally.

Three Bulgarians, including a Pregnant Woman and a Military Man, caught Transporting Migrants in Plovdiv

Three people, including a 7-month pregnant woman and a military man, were caught while transporting four illegal migrants, reported the National Television.

They were detected in yesterday in Plovdiv region.

Over 2,300 irregular migrants caught between Jan 20 and 26

More than 2,300 irregular migrants were caught between Jan. 20 and Jan. 26, the Directorate of Migration Management of the Interior Ministry has announced.

"Our fight against irregular migration continues. Between Jan. 20 and 26, a total of 2,322 were apprehended," the directorate stated in a social media post.

Nearly 3,000 irregular migrants were also deported, it noted.

Over 2,200 irregular migrants apprehended

More than 2,200 irregular migrants were caught and over 1,000 were deported between Jan. 6 and 12, the Directorate of Migration Management has announced.

"Between Jan. 6 and 12, 2,269 irregular migrants were caught, and 2,321 irregular migrants were deported. The deportation proceedings of 19,968 foreigners continue," the directorate tweeted.

35 illegal migrants were found in a house in Sofia during a police operation.

The illegal migrants were caught during an operation of the Metropolitan Directorate of Internal Affairs in the "Banishora" district. They were found in a house on Sofronii Vrachanski Street.

Number of illegal migrants more than doubles to 15,500 in Jan-Sept

Slovenian police intercepted a total of 15,590 illegal migrants in the January-September period, a rise of 115% from the same nine-month period last year. Police statistics show that Afghanistan citizens accounted for the largest single group of illegal migrants – 2,691 of the total.
