The Turkish Coast Guard recovered the bodies of two undocumented migrants, rescued a third and was seeking 10 more who remained unaccounted for following the sinking of a smuggling boat off the coast of Izmir on Monday, the Athens-Macedonia news agency said.

Ten people were missing on Monday after a boat carrying illegal migrants sank off Turkey's western coast, the Turkish coastguard said.

Police nabbed the suspects, 23 and 26, on Friday as they carried nine migrants from Pakistan and one from Bangladesh, across a river separating Greece and Turkey. The two suspects had just landed their small boat on the Greek side.

Across the river, about 80 migrants were waiting to be transported by the same boat.

Eight people have died and one rescued as a boat carrying irregular migrants sank off Turkey's Aegean coast of İzmir province, security sources said on Oct. 10.

A boat carrying migrants has capsized off Turkey's Aegean coast, killing at least nine people, the coast guard said Wednesday. A search and rescue mission was underway for some 25 migrants who are believed to be missing.

Turkish Coast Guard teams rescued 16 irregular migrants and recovered the bodies of two female migrants on Sept. 17 after the boat carrying them capsized off the coast of Bodrum in the southwestern Muğla province. 

Authorities in northern Greece have rescued 60 Iraqi migrants, including 27 children, found walking along a major highway after a smuggling truck dumped them far from their destination.

Police said the migrants, who had illegally entered Greece through the land border with Turkey, were found on Tuesday 15 kilometers (9 miles) west of Thessaloniki.

Greek authorities have arrested two aid workers and are investigating a total of 30 from the same organization on the island of Lesvos on suspicion they smuggled migrants into Greece, spied and laundered money, police said on Tuesday.
