Swiss voters approves new citizenship rules for third-generation immigrants
Swiss voters on Feb. 12 approved making it easier for third-generation immigrants to become citizens, dismissing suggestions that the move could pose a security threat, as reported by Reuters.
Projections by broadcaster SRF after polls closed showed the measure easily winning by a 59-41 percent margin.
Over 73,000 foreigners given work permits in 2016 in Turkey, Syrians take lion's share
Turkey's Labor Ministry offered work permits to 73,584 foreigners from among 86,467 applicants in 2016, according to a data compiled by state-run Anadolu Agency.
Syrians took the lion's share with 13,298 work permits, the data released on Jan. 18 stated.
116 Refugees Without IDs Detained in Sofia
Over the last 24 hours, a special operation aimed at limiting illegal immigration took place in Sofia. Police have arrested 116 foreigners in various parts of the capital. The illegal immigrants have no IDs and have been detained by the police in order to identify them and their origin. Afterwards, the detainees will be turned over to the competent authorities.
