An Athens court on Monday postponed the hearing of a compensation appeal lodged by 11 people who sustained serious burns in the deadly 2018 wildfire in Mati, East Attica.

The Special Court of Appeals Against Corruption and Organised Crime ruled on Friday that the case against Fatmir Mediu, who was defence minister in 2008 when an ammunition dump explosion killed 26 people, should be reopened.

The blast happened while ammunition from the period of Communist rule in Albania was being dismantled.

In a move likely to alter an ongoing fierce debate over stripping the legislative immunity of members of Turkey's Kurdish problem-focused party, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has proposed parliament lift the immunity from prosecution for all lawmakers and collectively review the 506 outstanding dossiers.
