Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on other health issues

Long Covid syndrome is not only significantly under-diagnosed by doctors in Greece, it is also often underestimated by the social environment of those affected.

Amid the recent upsurge of respiratory viral infections, health experts are recommending the use of face masks in crowded areas, hand antiseptics, tests in case of respiratory symptoms, and above all the need for vaccination against Covid-19 and influenza of people at high risk of serious disease.

One in eight people who get coronavirus develop at least one symptom of long COVID, one of the most comprehensive studies on the condition to date has suggested.

With more than half a billion coronavirus cases recorded worldwide since the start of the pandemic, there has been rising concern about the lasting symptoms seen in people with long COVID.

"We have cases of young patients who have had strokes, and the only reason we find this after extensive research is the post-COVID-19 experience." This is what the head of the Clinic of Nervous Diseases at the University Hospital "St. Anna " Assoc. Prof. Rosen Kalpachki said.
