Top Chinese official tours power plant, steelmaker
Serbian PM Ana Brnabic and Chairman of China's National People's Congress Zhang Dejiang on Monday visited the Kostolac B power plant in eastern Serbia.
Brbanic said that the project of building a flue-gas desulfurization (FGD) facility in the power plant's B1 and B2 blocks was completed in cooperation with China.

Holy Synod refuses to sanction cremation
The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Greece on Thursday repeated its refusal to sanction the practice of cremation, in an announcement issued on Thursday.
“The Holy Synod refuses [to accept] that it is dignified for the deceased to be burned in a furnace,” it said after a meeting chaired by Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos.

The construction of Sofia's new integrated municipal waste management system has been completed and all of the equipment has been installed.
The waste treatment facility was built with EU funding provided under operational program Environment 2007-2013, according to a media statement of the Sofia Municipality.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in Thessaloniki for stealing contraband cigarettes that had been seized by police and were awaiting incineration.
The man worked at the firm in the Efkarpia area that was due to destroy the cigarettes but was found in possession of 2,565 packets from the illegal consignment.

Greeks produced more municipal waste than the average European Union citizen in 2012 and more of it ended up being buried in landfills than was the norm for the 28-member block.
Greece produced an average of 503 kilos of municipal waste per resident compared to the EU average of 492 kilos.
