Serbia's Academy of Sciences and Arts, SANU, has dismissed as an "inflammatory political pamphlet" a paper drafted by its Croatian counterpart setting out the demands it says Zagreb should make as part of the negotiation process on the European Union accession of Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Aleksandar Vucic inaugurated the new plaque on Thursday near the banks of the River Sava, close to the location of the Staro Sajmiste (Old Trade Fair) concentration camp, which operated during World War II.

The central ceremony at the Monument to the Victims of Genocide in the complex of the former Nazi camp Staro Sajmite is led by President Aleksandar Vui.

Croatia now cites the problem of archival material, which Belgrade allegedly refuses to return to Zagreb, as the reason for such a threat.
Zagreb's Vecernji list claims that Belgrade refuses to return the archives belonging to it to Zagreb, even though, as they say, Serbia has signed an agreement on succession.

The Croatian parliament started its session with a minute of silence to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Thursday, while a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Boris Milosevic and Culture Minister Nina Obuljen Korzinek laid wreaths at the Mirogoj Cemetery in the capital Zagreb.

The Croatian parliamentary committee for war veterans' affairs endorsed a proposal on Tuesday to establish a military graveyard in the central Mirogoj cemetery in Zagreb for soldiers who fought for the 1941-45 Independent State of Croatia, NDH, a Nazi-backed puppet state.

An Austrian Interior Ministry group of experts presented a report to officials on Wednesday suggesting a complete ban on the annual gathering in Bleiburg in southern Austria which commemorates tens of thousands of Croatian Nazi-allied Ustasa troops and civilians who were killed by the Yugoslav Partisans in 1945.

Historian Dejan Ristic also attended the meeting in the premises of the Patriarchate of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Croatia's Serbian National Council, SNV and the NGO Documenta - Centre for Dealing with the Past on Thursday commemorated the deaths of around 400 Serbs who were killed by Nazi-allied Ustasa members under the World War II-era Independent State of Croatia in the town of Glina 80 years ago.
