European stock markets are under new sales pressure, with US stock futures declining in view of indications of escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia.

Economic growth in the eurozone slowed sharply in January, a key survey has showed, as new coronavirus restrictions hit consumer spending, raising a new obstacle for the region's recovery.

The consumer confidence index, which has a measuring range between 0 and 200, increased from 68.9 in December 2021 to 73.2 in January, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced on Jan. 21.

Turkey's consumer confidence posted a decline in November compared to last month, the country's statistical authority announced on Nov. 22.

The index is a vital gauge of the economy's overall, indicating people's sentiments on financial standing and the general economic situation, along with expenditure and saving tendencies.

Turkey's sectoral confidence indices posted positive results this month, the country's statistical authority reported on Oct. 25. 

Seasonally adjusted confidence indices for services, retail trade, and construction were up by 2.1%, 4.8% and 1% month-on-month in October.

Turkey's economic confidence index hit the highest level since April 2018 by increasing 1.6% month-on-month to 102.4 in Sept., the country's statistical institute said on Sept. 29. 

The increase stemmed from rises in consumer, real sector, services and retail trade confidence indices, TÜİK data showed.

After a two-month decline, Turkey's consumer confidence index bounced back in September, the country's statistical authority said on Sept. 22.

About 90 of the Index journalists resigned en masse following the sacking of editor-in-chief Szabolcs Dull. In the lead-up to his dismissal, Dull had been warning that the independence of the editorial team was in danger and he moved the "freedom barometer" on the homepage of Index to "in danger".

Turkey's calendar-adjusted industrial production jumped 40.7% in May compared to the same month last year, the country's statistical authority announced on July 13. 

The overall rise beat even the upper range of economists' estimates from an Anadolu Agency survey.

Turkey's economic confidence index posted a monthly increase in June, according to official data released on June 29. 


The index soared by 5.6% to reach 97.8 in June, up from 92.6 in May, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) said.
