Athens Stock Exchange opening: Rise

Equity prices went up on Wednesday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 0.48%, standing at 653.42 points at 11.00 am and turnover at 1.85 million euros.

The FTSE/ASE Large Cap index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks rose 0.44% and the FTSE/ASE Mid Cap index rose 0.08%.

Athens Stock Exchange: Drop

Equity prices dropped at the Athens Stock Exchange at 11 a.m. on Monday with the basic share price index down 0.41% at 671.05 points and turnover at 1.58 million euros.

The FTSE/ASE Large Cap index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.21% and the FTSE/ASE Mid Cap index was down 0.54%.

Athens Stock Exchange: Down… again!

Equity prices dropped on the Athens Stock Exchange on Wednesday, with the basic share price index down 1.70%, standing at 648.73 points at 11.00 am and turnover at 16.32 million euros.

The FTSE/ASE Large Cap index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks decreased by 2.09% and the FTSE/ASE Mid Cap index was up 1.44%.

Turkey cheaper than Europe but cars, booze, tobacco remain expensive

Turkey is more expensive than a few European countries but it remains cheaper than a majority of the continent, according to a new comparative purchasing power parity index released June 19 by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜ?K).

However, car prices stood above European levels, as did the prices of alcoholic beverages, tobacco and consumer electronics.
