AFP - The world's biggest statue is rising in a remote corner of India to honour an independence hero but it could quickly be outdone by a monument to a Hindu warrior king in the sea off Mumbai.
In a burst of nationalist fervour, around one billion dollars is being spent on the two giant effigies, each more than twice as tall as the Statue of Liberty.

Scientists Confirm Ice Exists at Moon's Poles
AFP - Scientists say they have confirmed the existence of ice on the Moon's surface for the first time, a discovery that could one day help humans survive there.
Signs of ice on the Moon have been reported by scientists for years, but previous observations could have been explained by other phenomena, such as unusually reflective lunar soil, the study authors said Tuesday.

24 Children Died after a Bus Accident in India
BBC - An investigation has been launched after 27 people, most of them children, died when a school bus fell into a gorge in a mountainous region of India.
Most of the passengers were below the age of 10, police said. The bus driver and two teachers were also killed in the accident on Monday evening.
The incident occurred in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh.
