Targoviste Maternity Unit receives EUR 23,000 worth of neonatal medical equipment donation

Save the Children Romania and tennis player Sorana Cirstea have endowed the Targoviste Maternity Unit with four vital sign monitors and 12 neonatal infusion pumps worth almost 23,000 euros purchased with the support of the campaigners for the reduction of infant mortality.

Baby abandoned in Thessaloniki

A newborn boy, who was found abandoned at the entrance of a Thessaloniki apartment block on Tuesday, was later being treated at the northern port city's Ippokrateio Hospital, along with the infant's 24-year-old mother who was traced to a nearby apartment.

India: Newborn Survives after it Was Buried Alive in a Clay Pot for Three Days

A couple rescued a baby in India, buried alive in a clay pot, according to BGNES. The spouses came to the cemetery to bury their daughter, who was stillborn.

The workers which were digging the grave have encountered a clay pot at a depth of about a meter. There was a baby inside the pot who showed signs of life.

Infant's death in Tyrnavos attributed to respiratory infection

A forensic examination of the body of a 4-month-old baby which died on February 21 in the town of Tyrnavos, central Greece, attributed the infant's death to a respiratory infection, the state-run Athens-Macedonian News Agency reported.
Coroners ran tests on tissue samples and blood samples were sent to the National Meningitis Center to determine the cause of death.

Dangerous Chemicals Found in Diapers in France

France's national health agency Anses says it has found chemicals in babies' nappies that exceed safety levels, reported BBC. 

Tests found levels above safety thresholds for substances potentially dangerous to human health, and lower levels of others including the controversial weedkiller glyphosate.

Anses said its nappy tests were the first of their kind in the world.
