“Over the past 25 years, the world has made significant progress in saving young children’s lives,” the United Nations United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) concludes. According to the agencies recent report “Levels and Trends in Child Mortality: Report 2017″, the rate of child mortality fell 62 per cent from 1990 to 2016.

More deaths than births in Greece in 2016: ELSTAT
Greece is sitting on a demographic time-bomb, as its population is aging at an alarming rate, according to data released by the Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). The figures show that there were 25,894 more deaths than births in 2016, a trend that persisted from 2015 when 29,368 more people had died than were born.

Turkey?s crude death rate rose in 2014, reaching 2011 levels due to the high increase in deaths over the same period, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜ?K) on April 29.
Healthcare in Bulgaria Ranks Among Poorest in Europe
The healthcare services provided in Bulgaria rank among the poorest in Europe, according to the Euro Health Consumer Index (EHCI) released by the Health Consumer Powerhouse on Tuesday.
Bulgaria obtained 547 out of 1000 possible points, ranking 30th out of 36 countries included in the survey.
Some 17,500 more deaths than births in Greece last year
Greeces population shrank by 17,660 people last year as deaths outpaced births, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
There were a total of 94,134 births in Greece last year, which was 6.2 percent down on 2012.
Almost 86 percent of the children were born to Greek mothers, whose average age was 31.5.
