Prof. Kantardzhiev: Currently, at Least 120,000 People in Bulgaria have the Flu
After the peak of the flu, 120,000 people are currently ill and at least 100 of them have severe respiratory failure. This was stated in Nova TV by Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev from the Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases in "Health Bulgaria".
Dangerous Bacteria that are not Affected by Antibiotics are Spreading in India
Scientists at the Queen Mary University in London say India is a potential "incubator for superbacteria," Newsru reported.
These bacteria are not affected by existing antibiotics.
New Influenza Virus was Detected in Bulgaria
A new influenza virus was detected in Bulgaria. Yesterday, the National Reference Laboratory at the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases has demonstrated in four samples from the Sliven region a new strain of group B virus - "Victoria". Of the 300 samples tested, there were 100 positive results, indicating an epidemic spread.

WHO Warns of Dangerous Madagascar Pneumonic Plague Outbreak
The World Health Organization (WHO) sent over a million doses of antibiotics to the African island nation of Madagascar after it was hit by an outbreak of pneumonic plague, the most virulent form of the deadly disease.
