China’s factories creep back to life as Covid curbs ease

The contraction gripping China's manufacturing sector slowed in May, data showed Tuesday, as some factories gradually resumed work after the easing of strict Covid lockdowns.

The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) -- a key gauge of manufacturing activity -- edged up to 49.6, officials said, from April's 47.4, which was the worst reading since early 2020.

Thursday’s coronavirus case count below 300

Ljubljana – A total of 294 people tested positive for coronavirus in Slovenia on Thursday, a drop of 29% from the figure reported a week ago. There were no fatalities, according to the Health Ministry. Thirty-three patients remain hospitalised for Covid-19 as their main condition, including two in intensive care.

Three Covid patients die

Ljubljana – The number of new coronavirus infections was down to 330 on Wednesday and the number of Covid patients in hospitals decreased by three to 31. Two are in intensive care, the same as yesterday. Three patients with Covid died. In total, 60 people in hospitals have Covid, meaning those with Covid as their main condition and those hospitalised for other reasons.

New coronavirus cases down daily, weekly

Ljubljana – A total of 393 coronavirus infections were confirmed in Slovenia on Tuesday, a drop of 46% from Monday and of 38% from a week ago. There were no deaths, fresh data shows. Health Ministry data shows there are currently 34 Covid-19 patients at regular Covid wards, down four from yesterday, and two in intensive care, three fewer.
