Venezuela's dizzying inflation rose 13,779 percent in the past year, a study released on May 7 by the opposition-dominated National Assembly has found.

Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has once again called on banks to lower interest rates, while adding that it is the government's duty to push down the inflation rate.

The Turkish currency tumbled 1.5 percent to yet another record low against the dollar on May 4 amid nagging worries over rising inflation, while the U.S. currency continued to make broad gains.

Economic growth in Bulgaria in 2018 will accelerate to 3.8% after reaching 3.6% in 2017, according to the European Commission's spring forecast published on Thursday.

Greece's annual EU-harmonised inflation rate slowed in March, statistics service ELSTAT data showed on Friday.

The reading in March was 0.2 percent from 0.4 percent in February. The data also showed the headline consumer price index turned negative at -0.2 percent year-on-year from 0.1 percent in the previous month.

The Central Bank of Turkey may carry out additional monetary tightening "if necessary" as it closely monitors the impact of the latest developments on inflation, pricing behavior and other factors affecting inflation, the bank's Governor Murat Çetinkaya has said.
