EU says coronavirus tracking apps should avoid storing data on servers

Mobile apps to track coronavirus cases in Europe should keep as much data as possible on the user's device rather than in a central server to best maintain individual privacy, an EU document says.

European countries hope that rolling out mobile apps to track coronavirus cases will make it easier to lift the lockdown orders that have crushed European and world economies.

Today is the Data Protection Day

Data Privacy Day is an international event that occurs every year on 28th January. The purpose of Data Privacy Day is to raise awareness and promote privacy and data protection best practices. It is currently observed in the United States, Canada, Israel and 47 European countries.

The NRA Could Have Prevented the Data Leak

The National Revenue Agency did not take enough measures to protect the personal data it held, the Chairman of the Commission for Personal Data Protection Ventsislav Karadjov said in his report to the National Assembly ad-hoc committee which was summoned to conduct an inquiry into all facts and circumstances surrounding the hacker attack against the servers of the revenue agency, BNR reported.<

House majority passes EU directive on data protection

Greek Parliament passed a bill on Monday that will incorporate a European Union data protection regulation into Greek law, with an overwhelming majority.
The legislation was approved by New Democracy, main opposition SYRIZA, the center-left Movement for Change and leftist MeRA25. Communist party KKE and nationalist Greek Solution voted against.
