Border Police Head: 4,600 tonnes of waste, confiscated since year beginning

Police chiefs reshuffled with presidential decree

Police chiefs of 10 provinces have been assigned to the headquarters and new police chiefs have been appointed in 33 provinces of the country in line with a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette on July 7.

One civil chief inspector and 26 police chiefs were appointed as internal affairs counselors to 27 overseas missions.

After the second attack on tax inspectors in 10 days, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras announced on Friday that penalties will be made tougher for assailants.
The latest attack took place on Thursday in the seaside village of Platanias near Volos in central Greece, when two tax inspectors were assaulted while checking the books of a pizza restaurant.

Man convicted for beating tax inspector gets suspended sentence

An owner of a cafeteria in the northern city of Alexandroupoli was handed a 30-month suspended jail sentence on Friday for assaulting a tax inspector earlier this week.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when officials of the Independent Public Revenue Authority found that the proprietor had not issued receipts for services rendered, among other violations.
