The Ljubljana-based company Aerosol is one of the six recipients of this year's WIPO Global Awards for SMEs that use intellectual property rights to make their business ideas a reality and contribute to a better future by applying innovation and creativity.

The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TurkPatent) received 136,619 trademark applications in the first three quarters of 2021, according to official figures released on Oct. 20. 

Of total, more than 125,000 of them were domestic trademark applications, the TurkPatent data showed.

Austrian energy drink giant Red Bull lost its trademark cancellation lawsuit against a local company producing soda in the Mediterranean province of Antalya.

In the last hearing of the case held in an Ankara court, Red Bull's case was dismissed on the grounds that there was no similarity between the two trademarks.

Turkey has leaped forward in the field of industrial property seeing a year-on-year rise in trademark, patent, utility model and design applications, the industry and technology minister said on Jan. 22.

The head of the State Intellectual Property Administration (NIPA) has announced that the country will strictly implement a strict intellectual property protection system and will not stop building a good environment for innovation and business.

Shen Changyu, director of NIPA, made the comment at the 10th China Intellectual Property Conference in Hangzhou.

Greece remains among the top 15 countries in the world where counterfeit goods originate from and are sold in the European Union, according to a report issued by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Importers expect the bill to lead to increased innovation and profits for businesses, reported NOVA TV. 

MPs voted in first reading on a draft law on the protection of business secrets, which introduces better legal protection against unauthorized acquisition, use and disclosure.
