Turkish photographer wins int’l contest with COVID-19 photos
A Turkish photographer was announced the winner of a category of the 2020 International Photography Awards over the weekend.
Selected as the winner of the "Discovery of the Year 2020" contest F. Dilek Uyar became the "Emerging Photographer of the Year" in the contest of the California-based International Photography Awards with her work titled "In Epicenter of COVID-19."

Matei Bals patients transferred to Military Emergency Hospital ICU
Two patients who on Friday were transferred from the Matei Bals Hospital to the Dr. Carol Davila Central Military Emergency University Hospital (SUUMC) are in intensive care, and two more transferred to the ROL2 healthcare facility at Otopeni are in a stable state and burn-free, according to the Defence Ministry (MApN).

Probe launched after fire at hospital kills at least 11 COVID-19 patients
An investigation has been launched into a fire at a private hospital in the southeastern province of Gaziantep that killed at least 11 patients in a COVID-19 intensive care unit.
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said the fire that occurred on Dec. 19 was caused by a high-flow oxygen therapy machine used to treat coronavirus patients.

Health experts remain adamantly opposed to any further relaxation of restrictions during the festive season, citing the consistently high numbers of patients with Covid-19 fighting for their lives in intensive care units, with many operating at full capacity.
