The Crete-Attica electrical interconnection project has been sabotaged with the aim of stopping the work, the Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE) has said.

The landmark electricity interconnection of Crete with Attica is proceeding in a vague regulatory framework with unknown consequences for the future.

The common front between the Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) and the Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE) against the Cypriot EuroAsia consortium appears to be cracking due to the project for the power interconnection of Crete with Attica.

Greece's energy regulator has opted to sidestep the European Commission and appointed a subsidiary of state grid operator ADMIE to fund and construct the power interconnection between Attica and Crete.

This is a high-risk decision that may have legal consequences for the project, and lead to more delays than those it is trying to avoid.
