Unpaid taxes are building up again as taxpayers are unable to meet obligations
Concerns are growing in the Finance Ministry as expired debts to the tax authorities grew at an unexpectedly high rate in March - a month with no major obligations. Unpaid taxes came to 776 million euros in March, taking total new arrears to the state in the first quarter of the year to 3.55 billion euros.
Online platform for tax declarations opens
The Taxisnet online platform for income tax declarations for 2017 incomes opened late on Thursday, after a long delay.
Taxpayers will have to submit their statements by the end of June, and have the option of paying their dues in three tranches, with a July 31 deadline for the first installment.

The online platform for the submission of tax declarations for 2017 incomes could open as late as mid-May, with July 20 as a likely submission deadline.
Settling non-expired dues in 12 installments
A circular issued on Tuesday by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue offers taxpayers the chance to settle their dues to the tax authorities in up to 12 installments, be it for one non-expired income tax installment or their entire annual dues that would normally be paid in three tranches every two months.

Greeks crushed by tax burden
Tax authorities have confiscated the salaries, pensions and assets of more that 180,000 taxpayers since the start of the year, but expired debts to the state have continued to rise, reaching almost 100 billion euros, as the taxpaying capacity of the Greeks is all but exhausted.

Deadline day for payment of 2.3 billion euros in taxes
Friday is the deadline for more than 7 million taxpayers for the payment of the first tranche of the Single Property Tax (ENFIA) and the second installment of income tax.
Finance Ministry agencies estimate that the amount to be collected comes to almost 2.3 billion euros, with 1 billion of that coming from ENFIA and the rest from income tax.
