International recognition of Kosovo

MADRID - The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday the outcome of a February 27 Belgrade-Pristina meeting was a step forward but that there was still work to be done on normalisation of relations based on an EU proposal backed by the European Council.

LYON/BELGRADE - The so-called Kosovo's Interpol membership bid has been taken off the agenda of the organisation's General Assembly, Tanjug learns.

The request had been included in the Interpol Executive Committee's first draft agenda for a General Assembly session in Vienna, but was subsequently omitted from the final version.

BELGRADE- Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic on Thursday met with the ambassadors of Quint states to the OSCE Mission in Vienna to discuss the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, the security situation in Europe and Serbia's European integration.

The note says that Washington believes that the issue of entering the so-called Kosovo's membership of the Council of Europe should not be put on the agenda of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, "Euronews Serbia" has learned from diplomatic sources.

The US embassy in Pristina on Tuesday held a meeting of political and civil society representatives of Kosovo Albanians and Serbs to discuss the Association of Serb-Majority Municipalities, a proposed body to represent minority Serb interests in Kosovo which has become a sticking point in the ongoing dialogue to normalise relations between Belgrade and Pristina.

BELGRADE - Kenya has reiterated it will not recognise the self-declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Tanjug on Friday.

Kosovo's prime minister thinks a deal to settle relations with Serbia is within reach. Experts say the situation on the ground hardly gives cause for optimism.

BELGRADE - Togolese FM Robert Dussey said on Monday in Belgrade he had offered assurances to Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic that Togo's support for the defence of the territorial integrity of Serbia was unreserved.

President Vui expressed satisfaction with the visit of Minister Dussey, as an exceptional opportunity to consider possibilities for intensifying cooperation between the two countries, which is bound by traditional and sincere friendship.

BUDAPEST - Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto said on Tuesday in Budapest his country would vote against Kosovo's membership in European bodies.
